Cubbies

Awana started last Tuesday night for Elyse; and besides the late bedtimes from being overexcited and wanting to share everything she did, we love the program and have no complaints.  Elyse received her vest and bag making her an official Awana's Cubbie.  She even asked me if she could sleep in her vest.  She is by far the cutest little Cubbie I have ever seen :)

For those of you that are unaware of what Awana is.  It is a national program that "helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. The program offers a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community."   Awana consists of age appropriate lessons, activities, and homework for children.  Therefore, Awana's Cubbies, focus on helping Elyse develop respect for God, His Son and His Word.

Simplistic

I really have nothing exciting or new to share.  Life is busy, yet still pretty simplistic right now.   Mostly just enjoying my time with these three blessings.

Kallen Turns 6 Months

Today I am blogging a bittersweet moment, our baby boy is 6 months old.  I really don't know how this is possible.  I feel like we were just bringing him home from the hospital last week.  I love the baby stage and since my other two don't want to have anything to do with it, I am trying to plead with Kallen to stop growing.   However, I think he has a different plan in mind by his enjoyment of eating foods, rolling all over the place, beginning to sit up without assistance, and his constant interest in what his siblings are doing.  Again, bittersweet.

Kallen, you are such a special gift and we love you so much.  We hope you have a great 6 month birthday!

Little Sidekick

Every Monday and Wednesday while Elyse is in preschool, I get to spend my mornings with my boys.  However, my littlest sidekick is taking his morning nap during that time.  So instead, I get to spend one-on-one time with my little sidekick.  It's been a lot of fun to do puzzles, color, cook, and play trucks/cars with Caleb.  I do look forward to when Kallen is done napping so the boys and I can do other fun things outside the home; but for now, I will treasure this Mama and Caleb time.

Lover of Puffs

"I like carrots, but I LOVE Puffs!"
Kallen has recently been eating food.  He has no major interest in it, so we are just slowly getting him us to it.  However, he has quickly developed a love for Puffs. I don't know if it's because he likes the taste, or because he prefers just feeding himself.  Either way, I'm happy to see that he enjoys eating something besides milk.  I sure do love this happy, carrot face.

Elyse's Princess Party

On Saturday, Nate and I threw Elyse her 4th birthday party.  We asked her what she wanted and no surprise that her response was, "A Princess Party".  She wanted her friends to come all dressed up like either a prince or princess.  Then on Friday, she asked me if Nate and I were going to dress up and after looking through our wardrobe and calling friends, we decided to say okay.  Overall, the party was a lot of fun and totally a success.

Preschool

Elyse officially started preschool today.  The reason I said "officially" is because last week she had class but it was a parent/child shortened day. Today was the real thing and she did awesome!  She loved every bit if it (especially snack time she said).  She was also the special birthday student today. Talk about a big first day.

How did I do you ask?
Surprisingly really well.  I think it helps that I drop her off at other places like church and the gym.  Plus she was so excited and ran in without giving me a hug or saying "bye" I knew she would have a great time.  I got a little emotional on the ride home since it was so quiet, but no tears.  Caleb on the other hand was crying constantly for Elyse.  He also kept bringing me her shoes.  When I told him to get his shoes so we could go pick her up, he pretty much ran them back to me.  So sweet he is!

Grandparent Visit

This past weekend, Nate's parents came to visit.  We all had a lot of fun and stayed very busy.  I can prove that because, below is the only picture we captured all 2.5 days.

A special thank you to Mike and Kathy for coming to visit.  We love you very much.

Elyse Turns 4

Today marks four years.  Four years of watching our beautiful, intelligent, strong-willed, independent daughter go from a precious little baby wrapped in our arms, to a precious young lady fleeing from our arms.

To Elyse: We daily thank God and your birthmother for you.  Words can't describe how much we love you and are blessed to have you as our daughter. We hope you have a wonderful birthday, princess.

Happy 4th Birthday, Elyse!

Albuquerque

As stated in the last post, last week we headed south to visit Nate's brother's family.  It was a very quick and great trip.  We spent most of our time watching the kiddos play together.  Their play consisted of water fights, parks, and lots of dress up/imaginative play.  We also were able to attend their local botanical gardens and aquarium center.

A special thank you to Shawn, Amelia, Liam and Greta for hosting us.  We had a wonderful, memorable and satisfying time.  Miss you already and can't wait to see you hopefully sooner rather than later. Love you guys and thanks again.

Home Sweet Home

Last Thursday, we headed south to Albuquerque to visit Nate's brother, Shawn and his family.  I am excited to post pictures soon, but this post is to just praise our children.  All five of us successfully flew there and back with NO problems.  The kiddos did great and we humbly accepted many praise from people about all of us doing so well.  Even though we had fun on the plane and with family, I am happy to say, "Home Sweet Home!"

First of many flights for Kallen.  Happy like always.
