Memorial Weekend

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend.  Nate had today off too, so four beautiful days with the four people I love more than anything.  The weekend was devoted to fun family activities, getting projects done, relaxing and creating lasting memories.  Overall, I believe we succeed in doing just that.

Spent the rainy Saturday at Mall of America
Caleb's first carousal ride too, he loved it

Spent the 90 degree Sunday swimming in the pool and sunbathing
Why the face Elyse?  Post to come :)

Spent the beautiful Monday at Como Zoo and Como Park

Spent everyday improving the home; like staining the vent that has needed to be done for two years, putting in laundry room cabinets and painting miscellaneous things

Coordinating

I maybe bias, but I believe my three children looked the best dressed today at church in their fun, summer, coordinating outfits.

Surprise Visitor

Thursday night and last night we had a very special visitor in our yard.  The kids love seeing the (very skinny) deer and are hopeful that she decides to make a nightly visit.

Robot Kids

a rainy day +  brown bags + markers +  scissors = happy robot kids

Apologize for the lack of good pictures, they were running around too much and Caleb preferred carrying his over wearing it.

Pool Day

Temperatures yesterday were in the high 80's with humidity so we couldn't help but get our swimsuits on and have a relaxing Saturday by the pool.  Elyse gladly jumped in, Caleb took sometime getting use to it.  He stood outside the pool and played with the water so much that he looked like he was swimming in it for hours.  Therefore, Nate and I eventually put him in it, sang songs, gave him toys and lots of praise to take his mind off of it.  After a few minutes, he warmed right up and had a blast.  I know we will be swimming lots this summer, but like many unpredictable Minnesota weather days, we will be indoors today enjoying our rainy, 60 degree day.

Kallen Turns 2 Months

Happy 2 Month Birthday, Kallen!
We love you, and thank God daily for you.

For those of you (mostly grandparents) that are interested, Kallen's 2 month check up is in a few weeks.  Therefore, I will post his stats later to let you know how big our big boy really is.

Don't Want To Close My Eyes

The weather this week has been perfect so we are taking every opportunity to be outside, especially playing at parks.  About thirty minutes into playing today, Elyse and Caleb decided to get off the playground and walk back and forth on the sidewalk.  I do not know if it's because we don't have sidewalks or what, but they found it very entertaining.  I was sitting next to Kallen watching them walk back and forth following one another while laughing and singing.  I just sat there in ah of how big they were and how fast time really does go.  I love my children so much and really need to capture every moment of everyday.  I feel like every time I close my eyes they grow two feet taller, weigh five pounds more and become a year older.  I know I am not the only mom that feels this way.  I also know it's a happy thing to see them grow and develop, but watching them today made me not want to close my eyes anymore.

Below are some pictures I took of the kiddos playing

Kallen's Dedication

As stated in the previous post, one of my top things on Sunday was dedicating Kallen.   For those of you that have never heard of a dedication, it means that we presented Kallen in front of our church saying that we as parents will raise him up in a home dedicated to the Lord. According to the bible a child is not saved by being baptized as an infant. Therefore, promising God that we will teach him about Him, Kallen will hopefully in turn make that decision to commit himself to God and choose to be baptized. Just like Elyse and Caleb's, dedicating Kallen was a wonderful and honoring experience for Nate and I.

We were also asked to pick a bible verse for Kallen.  This was pretty easy for us, since it is the same verse we have hung in our children's rooms, because we believe it fits each kiddo's story perfectly.  Plus it is were Kallen's middle name, Samuel comes from.

"I asked the Lord to give me this child, and he has given me my request.  Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life."
1 Samuel 1:27-28

Mother's Day

I feel so blessed to celebrate Mother's Day today in the most perfect way. I got to spend time with my husband, three beautiful children, mother, in-laws and dedicate Kallen to the Lord this morning at church (post to come).
I daily thank God for giving me the opportunity to be a mother and I don't ever take my three blessings for granted.
I hope all you mothers had a memorable, enjoyable and relaxing Mother's Day too!!!

Showing His Appreciation

When bringing Kallen home the last thing we wanted to worry about was the dreaded question, "What's for dinner?"  Well thanks to our bible study and local friends, we had meals covered for over a month.  Words can not express how helpful it was, and how much we appreciated it.  The kiddos loved asking, "What are we eating tonight and who cooked it?"  It was such a fun surprise every night for dinner.  Although I think they looked forward to it so much because of all the yummy desserts they got to enjoy, which rarely ever occurs in our home.  The pictures below of Caleb don't even do justice of the end results!

Special thanks to those who provided food for us to enjoy!
We love you and really appreciated it.

Back and Running

We finally have Internet back in our house. I have been living on my phone and really never realized how much I depend on Internet through the computer.  Anyway, nothing new around here, but I wanted to let you know that is the reason for the lack of blog post.

Kallen's Smiles and Coos...

...Melts This Mama's Heart

I have wanted to capture a picture of Kallen smiling (especially for Grandparents), however I have been unsuccessful due to fuzzy pictures (camera was on the wrong setting), siblings getting in the way, or because I did not have the camera with me. Therefore, I thank my mom for being able to capture the two below. He has been smiling and cooing for a few weeks now and I can't get enough of it and hope to one day capture one of my own.
