Boys and Their Toys

A few weeks ago, Nate was mowing the lawn and once Caleb saw the John Deere mower, his eyes got big, smiled ear to ear and kept following it saying, "Dada, up, Dada, up", so Nate couldn't resist.  Nate spent his entire lawn mowing that day having a 16 month old help drive.  I predict that every time Caleb now hears the mower he will cry if he can't help.

Got Flocked

Last year about this time, some students in our church were going on a missions trip and decided to leave their flamingos in our yard in hopes that we would donate money to have them removed.  Elyse instantly fell in love with all the pink birds in our yard, so much that she took one inside to take care of it (dressed it, bathed it, feed it, etc).  She was so upset when she had to give it back that the moms of the students went out and bought her a stuffed flamingo to keep, she calls her, Lulu.

The reason I posted the above paragraph is because the flamingos must have loved the attention Elyse gave them last year so much that they decided to come visit again this year.  As you can see from the pictures, Elyse feel in love all over again. 

Weird Playing Spots

I often find Elyse and Caleb playing in weird spots throughout the house, like closets, behind furniture, etc. Playing under the kitchen table is by far their favorite. They tend to play together there for a long time so I do not complain, instead I sit back and enjoy.

Any of you moms experience this? If so, do you have any other suggested fun places my kids can play?

1 Month Old

I can not believe Kallen turns one month old today, seriously where did the last four weeks go?!? We love him so much and are in ah of him and what God has done everyday.

Fun Kallen Facts
-smiling
-cooing
-eating great
-wears not infant, but Caleb size cloth diapers, proves he's eating great :)
-loves his paci
-starting to hold his head up on his own
-loves being talked and sung too (Twinkle Twinkle is by far his favorite)
-enjoys his baths more
-sleeping more at night

Overall, it's been a wonderful month and we do look forward to celebrating many more that will be here sadly in no time. Happy 1st Month Birthday Kallen, we love you so much!!!

7 Years

Today marks Nate and my seven year wedding anniversary. I can't believe we've been married for seven years already! God has provided many trials these last seven years; but I would not have had it any other way. That's because I believe they are the reasons our marriage is as strong and wonderful as it is today. I feel so blessed to have Nate as my husband, father to our three beautiful children and best friend.

Nate, I love you so much and everyday grow to love you more and more. Thank you for all you do for the kids and I. I look forward to celebrating many more blessed years with you. Happy Anniversary, Nate!!!

Fun Windy Activity

Recently the weather has been a little chillier and windier than normal, but not bad enough to ignore playing outside. That's right, the kiddos have taken advantage of these windy days by flying their kite.

Bike Helmets

Last night, Nate and I took the kids to Blaine's Annual Youth's Bike Helmet Fitting. It's a great program put on by the police and fire departments. I highly recommend any parent in the Anoka County to take advantage of this. The departments specialize in making sure your child has the correct size bike helmet for only $12.

Now to the funny story of the night...the police put a 3+ year old helmet on Caleb and the helmet was way too tight. She then put on the next size, 5+ year old helmet and it fit perfectly. Ironically, it was the same size as Elyse's helmet, yet the police said hers was a little loose but the 3+ would be too small. Well we are hopeful we won't have to buy Caleb a new bike helmet for a few years ;)

Celebrating Easter

This Easter was very simple, yet wonderful. We celebrated it by attending church and doing other traditional Easter activities.

He Is Risen

We just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter. We pray that you take a moment and reflect the true meaning behind Easter. We are so thankful for our Lord in Savior, Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again so we could be free.

Couldn't Resist

Just before Kallen was born I came across two identical shirts in both Caleb and Kallen's sizes and totaling under $3, so it's no surprise that I couldn't resist not buying them. I don't plan on always matching my boys, but I also know this will not be the last time I do it. It's one of the many reasons it's great to have two children of the same gender.

Tot Time

Almost every Monday and Tuesday, our local YMCA hosts a "Tot Time" for kids under five. It's a great activity that involves an open gym with trikes, tents, tunnels, cars, balls and other gym activities. It's open for two hours and only costs $2 per child. We often join our friends which makes it even more enjoyable. I would really recommend attending a "Tot Time" if you live in Anoka County.

Elyse spent most of her time playing with the buckets, bouncy ball and running around.

It's no surprise that Caleb spent most of his time in the cars :)

Grandparent Weekend

This past weekend, Nate's parents headed up north to see the kiddos and meet Kallen for the first time. The weather wasn't the best, but the company was perfect. Our time was very simple, yet memorable to say the least.


One of the highlights, especially for the kiddos was going to the Easter egg hunt. A local church put on a free event for the community. The event had tons of eggs for the kids, food, blow up jumpers, music and firefighters/trucks. Only bummer was that it was chilly outside, but we still had lots of fun!
