Celebrating Mom/Nana

While my mom was here this weekend, we decided to surprise her and celebrate her birthday a few days early.  We celebrated by singing and eating birthday cake, opening presents made by the kiddos and giving lots of hugs and kisses.  

To Mom:  Thank you for all you do and for being an amazing mom, friend and support system.  I am so grateful to have you as my mom and just hope Elyse needs me as much as I need you when she is a mom.  Love you lots and hope you have a happy birthday!  Enjoy your day because you deserve it.

Family of Christ's Car Show

Today my mom and step-niece joined us as we headed to Caleb's preschool (weird not to write Elyse's) to check out local collector cars and tractors, army equipment as well as fire engines.  We also shopped the craft section, jumped in the inflatables and ate some yummy food.  Very simple event but fun for all.  

Beautiful Butterfly

Recently some of our closest friends captured a handful of caterpillars to watch them turn into beautiful butterflies.  Lucky for us, they had to go out of town and let us keep the last two.  When we received them the two were happily living in their cocoons.  But within 24 hours they blossomed into beautiful butterflies.  When butterflies come out their wings aren't dried off and developed enough to fly away.  Therefore, the entire morning was spent with the kids feeding, watching and holding what they considered their pet butterflies.  Very awesome experience for the kids!  Side note...holding a butterfly isn't so beautiful, feels like a bad insect crawling all over you.

Four Generations

Today my mom, grandmother, aunt, and friend of my mom's came up to spend the day with us.  The day involved mostly playing with the kids (my Grandma is so cool, she was playing baseball, coloring and pulling the kids in the yard in a wagon) and lots of chit-chat.  It was also the first time my grandma met Ian.  The day would not have been complete without a four year generation picture of us ladies.

Ian Turns 8 Months

Today marks 8 months for Mr. Ian!  This past month has been crazy busy and I honestly can't believe he turns another month older today.  Well the little boy got weighed yesterday and even though he is growing he is still under the 1% curve.  He is officially still our littlest and happiest child.  Most compliments by far from non-family members that he is the happiest baby they have ever met.  Love him to pieces and know he is one perfect gift from God.

A Special Bond

It never gets old to me how these five don't hang out together for almost a year, but when they do it's like they saw each other yesterday.  They have such a special friendship, and I am hopeful that it stays that way for a long time.

Kalahari Resort

As I sit down to type this post I quickly become sad that I am back home.  That's because for the past week we have been at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells with Nate's family.  We had an amazing time of water park fun, theme park play, eating and hanging out.   The weather could not have been any more perfect so needless to say, we all had a wonderful time!  

A humongous thanks to Nate's parents, Mike and Kathy for taking us all on such a great vacation.  Thank you so much, we had a blast and love you both very much!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for summer nights like these, eating grilled burgers, corn on the cob and watermelon all on the deck with beautiful weather and perfect company.

Who's Massaging Who?

So Nate volunteered to give my mom a back massage to relive some pain she was having.  He also told Elyse he would give her one too once he finished.  However, when my mom was done I turned around to see this, Elyse giving Nate a massage instead :)

Two Wheels Less

Yes you'd be correct, I just posted a post of Elyse on two wheels a little while back.  However, as of yesterday, Caleb is now two wheels less too!  He's wanted his training wheels off since Elyse took hers off.  It just took me lowering his seat so he could touch the ground to build his confidence.  Once he knew he could prevent himself from falling, he was off with his training wheels left in the dust.  Pretty awesome since he is only three.  So proud of him!
