Minnesota State Fair

Today we checked off our last bucket list item this year, attending the Minnesota State Fair.  This year was extra special because Grandpa and Grandma got to do it with us.  We lasted about half the day and thankfully walked onto the bus when the rain began to pour.  It was cooler temps, delicious fried food, less busy, and lots of fun, a great day for sure!

First Day of School

Today marked another start to a school year for the kids at Legacy Christian Academy.   Once again the school welcomed the kiddos with nothing but fun; lots of picture backdrops, the mascot, music, staff, and an orange carpet. The kids were so excited to see all their friends and staff again that they actually all walked into school without saying goodbye to Dad or me.  An extra special day for me too, as I started teaching part-time as a high school psychology teacher.  So fun to be in the school with the kids all day.  Such a blessing and great year it is going to be!

Kallen's Baptism

Today marked another day that dad and I will treasure forever, Kallen chose to be baptized.  I was hesitant to know if he was really ready until a few days ago at bedtime.  Caleb made some comments and Kallen responded by saying it was going to be the most important day of his life.  Ian asked if it would be more than his wedding day.  Kallen then responded with, "Yes, because if I don't do this right, I can't do that right."  He totally got it and I was so proud!

Kallen declared his love to always trust and follow Jesus in front of our church family.   It was such a beautiful sight that brought so much joy and happiness to dad and me.  Following the baptisms, Constance hosted a cake reception for the families and their friends.  We are so blessed that some of our closest friends decided to attend Constance with us today to celebrate his day with him.  Such a blessing today was, and so proud of Kallen!

Papa and Nana Speckman Visit

Starting last Saturday until today we had the privilege of ending summer hanging out with Papa and Nana Speckman.  I can't get over how fast the time went.  We spent most of our time at home just playing games and catching up since last year.  We loved having them and it's always sad to say goodbye, but we are so grateful we got to see them.

Kallen Goes to Camp

This past Sunday until yesterday was Kallen's turn at Camp Lebanon.  What a difference one year makes, Kallen gave his tight squeeze goodbye and then without hesitation was off.  He loved every minute of camp he said.  His cabin was the largest one without bunk beds and connected bathrooms.  He again went with a few of his best buds and had such a wonderful time. He did lots of swimming, ziplining, laser tag, shooting, worship, bible studies, and games.

Elyse Goes to Camp

This week just marked Elyse's highlight of her summer, something she anticipates as school ends, going to Camp Lebanon.  She loves going to Camp Lebanon, and I really don't understand as she doesn't like being outside or dirty.   She went with five classmates this year and had four extra girls in our cabin, who she said were a great addition.  I know she's sad to be home, but we are happy to have her back.

Cincinnati Zoo

Our last day was spent entirely at the Cincinnati Zoo.  The kids even asked how big it was because it just kept going and going.  The zoo was beautiful with all the scenery, shade, animals, and exhibits.  Nothing about this day was a disappointment, except for the 90-degree day we had.  Our favorites were the hippos, rhinos, elephants, blue penguins, manatees, and active wolves.
