Easter - He is Risen!

Easter is the holiday that brings me so much joy and appreciation for life!  The day that our Savior rose from the dead to take away our sins so we could be forgiven.  I just get teared up every year when we worship Jesus on this day.

Today, we did our normal traditions of going to church, doing resurrection eggs, reading the Easter story, and eating a delicious Easter meal.  However, we decided to stop the tradition of Easter baskets and egg hunts which have nothing to do with Easter, and only give into our worldly temptations of "I want".  I was nervous at first, but overall it was a wonderful day.  The kids knew it was going to be this way and they didn't complain at all.  We had a beautiful family day and celebrated the most beautiful gift we were ever given His love!

He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

DIGS Volleyball

Today ended Elyse's DIGS club volleyball league.  It has been a long season of both triumph and defeat.  However, the biggest win comes with her play.  She was in the top two on her team enabling her to play all around, and so she got so many touches!  Her hits as middle were sharp, and she had countless aces and perfect serves.  So proud of her this season and look forward to her continued success in the game.

Minnesota's State Capital

Today I had the opportunity to join Kallen and his grade on a field trip to the state capital.  It was extra special since one student's dad is a representative.  We got to go to places most don't, and even met a state judge and heard stories.  Such a memorable experience not only for Kallen, but I.

Kallen Turns 11 Years Old

Today Kallen turned eleven! Kallen continues to be loved by many with his kind and gentle heart and annoys many with his non-stop chatty mouth. He also has a passion to help others and do what is right.   He still proves to be very intelligent (especially with memory), funny, cuddly and has a drive that will continuously bring him success in all he does.

Kallen's favorite things right now are hanging out with friends, basketball, soccer, Legos, dinosaurs, and video games.

Happy 11th Birthday, Kallen!
We love you so much.

Since Kallen's birthday landed on spring break, we were able to give him his party Thursday night with six of his closest buddies over for a sleepover.  He did celebrate today with us by opening gifts, eating cake, playing with his new 3-D printer, watching his movie of choice, and eating his own pizza.

I Love to Read Month and Wax Museum

Today ended Legacy's annual "I Love to Read Month".  The elementary students read over 245,000 minutes for prizes and bragging rights.  The day ended with them showcasing the book they read throughout the month.

Kallen also participated in Legacy's annual Wax Museum.  Where students read an autobiography about a famous Christian and then became that person.  Kallen was Tim Tebow.  He did a fantastic job, and seeing it all come alive was fun.

LCA Boys Basketball

Today just ended what I call a GREAT season of basketball for Kallen!  Kallen made the traveling team this year, so we not only had games during the week but also joined classmates and their families on Saturdays for tournament play.  The boys lost 1 game the entire season and placed first in all but two tournaments.  Kallen grew tremendously in skill and in the game of basketball.

Ensenada Mission Trip

Dad and Elyse just spent the last week doing something Elyse has been asking for a few years to do now, attend a mission trip.  They joined a few family friends/classmates on the trip to Ensenada, MX.  They spent the first day there visiting an orphanage but focused most of their time on building homes for two families that have nothing.  In just about 48 hours, two solid houses with electricity were built.  Such an amazing experience and so thankful they both loved it so much they plan on making it an annual thing and including the rest of us five.
