Rolling

So after talking with some family members and friends who have seen Elyse roll in person, they were pretty shocked she was doing it. That's when I realized I forgot to post the video of her rolling. She's been successfully rolling now for over three weeks. Therefore, I'm sorry this is kind of late. She's very good at it and loves to do it. Unfortunately we are still learning how to roll back. Once that's accomplished life for Nate and I should get easier since many times Elyse will roll and get stuck. We also find it ironic that babies like Elyse hate being on their stomach, but once they can roll by themselves they love being on their stomach. Miss. Independent, kind of like her mom I suppose.

Yummy, Yummy In My Tummy

Since Elyse is officially 4 months old, Nate and I were able to start feeding her cereal. At first it was very sad to know she is slowly moving away from the bottle to people food. On the other hand it was a happy moment to see the enjoyment she had. She's been sitting in her Bumbo watching us eat dinner every night as well as watching her friend Aiden sit in his highchair, I think she just wants to do what everyone else is doing. We feed her 1 tbsp of cereal with about 4 tbsp of formula. As you can see from the videos she didn't know what to think at first, but by the end, she loved it and was opening her mouth for more. What can we say, this girl loves to eat!

So after I fed Elyse for a little bit, Nate gave it a try. He started out great, but by the end I think Elyse ended up feeding Nate.

4 Months Old Already

Today Elyse had her 4 month check up. She officially turned 4 months when we were in Florida, but I feel like we have celebrated it many different times. Well, Elyse again passed all her development skills with flying colors. In fact, she is rolling already and will get to start eating cereal probably tomorrow. Those videos will be coming VERY soon! Her doctor just adores her and always says how special and beautiful she is. She did really well with her shot too which is great. She is a very healthy, growing girl! She came in at a big 16 lbs (89 percentile) and 25 3/4 inches long (92 percentile). No wonder my biceps look great :)

Nate and I celebrated her day with a very large ice cream cake, actually we just wanted the cake since it was on sale and used her 4 months as a reason to get one :) Random pictures of Elyse at 4 months that Nate took in Florida

Babies, Babies and More Babies

So I just wanted to send out a post congratulating two different couples that are friends of ours. They both had babies this past week. Nick and Abby's little blessing was their first, while Dave and Tiffany's was their third. I don't have facts for Dave and Tiffany, but thankful the little guy is healthy. I also think he's extra special because like Elyse he is an adopted baby. Therefore, we love all of you and again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Happy With Dad

Elyse loves to play with Nate! She smiles and seems to always do a high pitch screech when Nate talks to her. We were able to catch it on video early Sunday morning. I'm happy for Nate, but selfishly sad for myself, Elyse is becoming more of a "Daddy's girl" everyday.

Fun in the Sun

All last week, Nate, Elyse and I had the opportunity to enjoy fun in the sun. We joined Nate's parents, brother, Shawn, sister-in-law, Amelia and nephew, Liam for a week of relaxation and family time in Sanibel, Florida. Amelia found this amazing 3 room, 2 bath suite right off the Gulf of Mexico. We had our own balcony and deck to watch the sunrise and sunset everyday. We basically spent the days playing in the sand and water, playing cards or eating. As you can see from the pictures, it was beautiful! It was really hard to leave temps between 70-80 to arrive in MN with temps around 15 degrees. I just hope to go back and do it again real soon.

Hello 2009

Yesterday we all said goodbye to 2008. I'll admit the year started off not so exciting. Although, by the end of it, I'd have to admit it was a GREAT, if not perfect. I know the only reason it was so amazing is because we saw God work and bless us with Elyse. Therefore, 2008 brought parenthood for Nate and I, and we couldn't love it anymore than we do. Well last night Nate, Elyse and I kicked off the New Year with our good friends, Tom, Jenny and Aiden Kuphal. We rang in the New Years about 8 P.M., but that's what happens when babies enter the party. We had a blast eating, playing games, reflecting on the year and watching the two little ones play together. I'll admit, I'm super excited to see what God has in store for us in 2009. Happy New Year everyone! "Hey Aiden, you're going to be my friend in 2009, you got that!"
