Visit to Keokuk

This past weekend was Memorial Weekend so we headed south to visit Grandpa and Grandma.  The weather was hot and in the 90's so we spent much of our time trying to be in water.  The kids had fun water gun fights, boys went fishing, girls ran a 5K to benefit "Girls on the Run", we had fun at Burlington's Fun City water-park minus the deep cut for Ian.  Overall, this weekend was a trip with everlasting memories and unfortunately for Ian, scars to prove it.

Special thanks to Grandpa and Grandma for a great visit and wonderful hospitality!  Love you both.

Last Day of School

"Schools Out for Summer" is the phrase that was constantly repeated in my head today.  The children had their last day of school today and it was filled with many mix emotions.  A part of them were excited about sleeping in and no homework; while the other part of them were so sad to leave friends, their teachers and a school they love going to everyday.  Well just as with every summer, school will start again in no time, so until August gets here we are going to enjoy summer the best we know how.

Kallen with his Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Beyers
Kallen with his "Big Buddy", Johnny.  The big buddy program at LCA is one of my favorite things they offer.  Older kids meet weekly with the younger ones to mentor them, fellowship, pray and play with.  The kids have always loved their big buddies and Johnny just so happened to walk by at the perfect time today for me to capture a photo.

Dance Recital

Yesterday involved nothing more than dance for Elyse and us.  She decided this year to try a new studio, "QC Dance"; sadly didn't enjoy practices very much but loved preforming her final routine on stage.  She looked beautiful and it was great seeing her up there do her thing.  We were very proud of her!

Ian Graduates 3/4 Preschool

Today was Ian's last day of 3/4 year old preschool.  Today was extra bittersweet because it's always hard to say, "Goodbye" but today also meant our family saying "Goodbye" to Family of Christ Preschool.  Ian has decided to join the others and attended extended day preschool next year at Legacy.  It has been a great year and Ian loved school, we just hope that continues.

Grandpa and Grandma Visit

So we had the privilege of having Grandpa and Grandma up this past weekend.  It was so good to see them, it has been way too long!  We spent our time playing with the kids, eating delicious food, watching movies, cheering on Caleb at flag football and going to Urban Air.  Not only did the kids have such a great and relaxing time so did I, so much that I forgot to take any pictures.  So a extra special thanks to Grandpa and Grandma for not only coming up, but for taking the great pictures below!

Track and Field Day

Today was Track and Field day at the kiddos school.  That meant we spent the morning as a family (including Grandpa and Grandma) cheering one another in track and field events.  The kiddos did a great job and all came home with at least one ribbon of 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.  So proud of them!

Special thanks to Grandpa and Grandma for staying an extra day to watch the kiddos!
