Advent Day 24

Attend Christmas Eve Service

This year's Christmas Eve service felt so different because it landed on Sunday; which meant our services were the same as normal Sunday mornings.   So we dressed  a little fancier than a normal  but since it wasn't evening, we didn't rush home to eat dinner and our day was completely plan free so it didn't feel like Christmas Eve.  Sums up our Christmas this year, beautiful, family, at home and simplistic.

Advent Day 23

Create Your Own Nativity Story Picture with Stickers While Reading the Story, "This is the Stable"

I know this isn't the kids' favorite but this activity really is one of my favorites.  Reading a story about the birth of our Savior, discussing things that happened and then the kids making their own picture while following along.  Makes me so excited for the next two days!

Advent Day 22

Picnic Dinner and Movie Night-
Pizza and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

This is the first time ever that I forgot to capture a picture of our Advent activity.  We as a family LOVE pizza and movie night at home.  We usually do it on Sunday nights where we lay out a blanket and have a picnic on the floor while watching a movie together.  After eating we cuddle on the couch and finish the movie snug together in blankets.  Since this week has been so ugly I didn't think once to get the camera, but instead not move and enjoy ever minute with the family as one.

Advent Day 21

Paint a Window Art Christmas Tree

Elyse's ER Visit

Nothing about this week has been of the ordinary.  On Monday Elyse began having hives and then mid day Tuesday complained of leg pain.  It did not go away and progressively got worse where walking alone was not an option yesterday.  We took her to the ER and after being in waiting room for four hours and exam room for another four, they sent her home with normal blood labs and x-rays, and told her to to just take ibuprofen.  She sadly woke up this morning complaining of other leg now hurting so bad.  We will monitor her and if need-be take her to children's.  Poor baby girl, no answers to anything but pain.

Advent Day 19

Christmas Treasure Hunt

The kids love doing these treasure hunts.  This game is requested by each of them to play at their birthday party.  I print out pretty large objects, in this case, things/people from the Nativity story, and hide them in one area of the house.  I then give each child their own paper with all the images smaller in size so they can cross them off when they are found.  The kids were running and smiling the entire time and asked to do this one again next year as we have never done it before.
