Track and Field

Today was Track and Field day.  That means dad and I once again spent the day cheering on all the track and field events.  It was Kallen's last time, so it was a little bittersweet in that perspective.  Overall, the day was great!  The weather was beautiful, a bunch of fellowship time, lots of laughter, and the kiddos each came home with at least one ribbon of 1st or 2nd place.  So proud of them!

Chicksitting

For the past few weeks, one of Legacy's first-grade classes got a grant for an incubator to grow chickens.  Well, two successfully hatched this past week at school and the teacher knows how much my kiddos love these chickens so she asked us to chick-sit them this weekend.  The kiddos were thrilled and since they are so small and not a lot of work, we gave the okay.  My only concern is how attached the kiddos are getting to the chickens, I really don't want pet chickens, ha!

The class also has not named the chickens, so the Klausers have decided on two great names, "Nugget" and "Drumstick". 😄

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

This past weekend was entirely devoted to Legacy's spring musical, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".  The reason is that one of the amazing actors was played by Elyse.  Besides Jeremy and the little five young children, Elyse was the only middle schooler with lines and roles throughout the musical.  She did such a fabulous job and it was so fun to watch her shine on stage.  The only difficult thing is that she happens to play the "Captain" who is in charge of the Vulgarian army where she has to be series the entire time on stage.  She rocked it, but still not seeing her smile up there is weird for this mama.  The weekend consisted of three amazing shows, with three more to follow next week.  So proud of you, Elyse, or should I say, "Captian"? :)

Happy Easter

Today we celebrated Easter.  Even though it was only 35 degrees, we didn't let it stop us from doing some of our annual favorite Easter traditions, including getting in our best attire and going to church to praise Jesus for dying for our sins, reading the Easter story with resurrection eggs, opening our Easter baskets, eating a delicious meal, and spending the day hanging out as a family thanking Jesus for what He has done.

HAPPY EASTER!  He is RISEN!

Happy Anniversary

Today we celebrated 17 years of marriage.💖  The day was spent at home hanging out with the kiddos and celebrating a family friend's birthday, but we still got some time out alone.  After dinner, we ran a few errands together and just hung out watching a movie at home afterward.  (We never captured any pictures but the one below is one we got last week when we attended Legacy's annual Gala.)

Junior Achievement

For the past four weeks, Dad and I once again spent each week teaching the Legacy's fourth-graders about business through a program called, "Junior Achievement".  Today this year's program came to an end at BizTown.  The students spent the entire day working in their corporations; they focused on their tasks in order to successfully make their products, sell those products, and pay back their corporations' taxes and loans.

A super fun experience for us to both get to do with Kallen.  Kallen's job was being a bank teller at the bank.  At first, he wasn't very excited about that job, but his teacher knows him well because it involved constant focus, dealing with money/numbers, and working with people.  We observed him helping many of his fellow classmates balance checkbooks and work the computers.  He really did a great job and in the end, loved his day!  (The last picture is only posted because Kallen's tongue is out, and ever since he was a baby when he is really focused, the tongue comes out!)

Kallen Turns 10 Years Old

Today Kallen turned double digits!  He was so thrilled to finally be 10 and honestly I feel like he has been 10 for months now.  The kid continues to be loved by many with his kind and gentle heart.  He has a passion to help others and do what is right.   As a ten-year-old, he still proves to be very intelligent (especially with math), funny, cuddly, and a drive that will continuously bring him success in all he does.

Kallen's favorite things right now are hanging out with friends, Legos, dinosaurs, video games, and basketball.

Happy 10th Birthday, Kallen!
We love you so much, enjoy your first year of double digits buddy.
Since Kallen's birthday lands on Spring Break, we had to postpone his party to next Friday when three of his closest buddies will be over for basketball, a sleepover, and video games.  He did celebrate today with Nana and the six of us by opening gifts, eating cake, playing his new video games, and having his meal of choice, cheeseburgers, potatoes, and fruit. Overall, I think turning double digits has been non-stop fun!
