Track and Field Day

Today the kids had "Track and Field Day".   They were beyond thrilled for so many reasons.  One is that they got to skip most of their day to be outside doing track activities.  They also got to hang out with their entire grade and not just their current classmates.  They got to see their mascot, Pounce.  Lastly, it was the last track and field for Caleb, and the first for both Ian and Maddie thanks to Covid canceling it last year.  For both dad and I, it was extra special too because it was the first event Legacy was able to invite all parents to attend this school year, and thanks to restrictions finally being lifted, we were able to be mask-free.  Overall, it was a wonderful day!

Madeline's Dedication

Today we dedicated Madeline at church.  For those of you that have never heard of a dedication, it means that we presented Madeline in front of our church family saying that as parents we will raise her up in a home dedicated to the Lord.  According to the Bible, a child is not saved by being baptized as an infant.  Therefore, we promised God that we will teach Madeline about Him; in return, Madeline will hopefully make the decision to commit himself to God and choose to be baptized when older.  Just like the other four, dedicating Madeline was a very honoring experience for Dad and me.

We were asked to pick a verse for Madeline.  We chose, Romans 15:13:
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Happy Mother's Day

My heart is so full today!  I am beyond thankful for these five not-so-little any more children that give me the privilege of being their mom!   Some days are easier than others but there is no other job in the world I would rather be doing.  I love them more than words can ever express.  So thankful to God for trusting me to raise His children.

Today was a perfect day!  The day began with the kids (and Dad) attending church together, we then came home where they spoiled me with perfect gifts, cards, hugs, kisses and some awesome behavior.  The day ended with lots of playing, pizza-movie night, and non-stop laughter.

A Happy Mother's Day it was indeed.  I hope all you other moms had a very Happy Mother's Day!

Happy 16th Anniversary

Today, April 16th marks 16 years of marriage to my best friend.   Our day really wasn't anything big as some people do to celebrate anniversaries.  Instead, it was simple and so enjoyable, just like our marriage.  We can do the simplest things and have so much joy because we are together.  I can't describe how grateful I am to be married to my best friend and do life as one.   We spent our day working and then ate dinner with the kiddos.  After dinner, we headed to Legacy to watch Legacy's spring musical performance of "Little Women".  Plus since we both love musicals, saw friends, and got out of the house, it made for a special anniversary overall.  Happy Anniversary love, God willing, I can't wait to celebrate so many more years with you.

Grandpa and Grandma Visit

We were thankful we didn't have solid plans this weekend because Grandpa and Grandma decided on Thursday to come up and visit Friday to this morning. We spent our time just hanging out at home and creating special memories. We always love seeing them and miss them already.

Papa and Nana Speckman Visit

The kiddos ended up having last Thursday through today off thanks to Easter, so when Papa and Nana Speckman decided to come to visit us during the break we were thrilled.  Our time went by so fast but we were able to create some amazing, fun, and long-lasting memories.  Even though we spent much of our time at home playing games and talking; we were able to do some other activities, like playing lots of basketball, going shopping, taking bike rides, and watching family movies together.  We were all having such a great time, I now realized we really captured very minimal pictures.  Kids were so sad to see them leave and so grateful it all worked out.

Special thank you to Papa and Nana for coming and visiting.  We loved having you and look forward to doing it again hopefully soon.

Happy Easter

Today we celebrated Easter.  This year came with a special treat, and I don't mean the sunny 70 degrees April day, but because we got to spend our first Easter with Papa and Nana Speckman.  We still did our annual Easter traditions, got in our best attire and went to church to praise Jesus for dying for our sins, read the Easter story with resurrection eggs, opened our Easter baskets, ate a delicious meal, searched for eggs, and spent the day hanging out as a family thanking Jesus for what He has done.

Happy Easter!
