Advent Day 3

See the Movie, "The Star" in the Theaters

Ever since the kiddos saw the preview for this movie they asked to go see it.  We had planned to see it a few times but things kept coming up so we decided today to make it our activity.  The movie may not have the greatest reviews by the world's view, but from our family it was a 5 star cute movie.  The kids loved it!  It was a fictional story with non-fictional aspect of  the real meaning of Christmas through the eyes of animals.  Looking forward to adding this to our movie collection in the future.

Advent Day 2

Morning in Bethlehem

Today's activity is one that we have done a few times but a good one.  Our church puts on a Christmas event to get families excited for the meaning of Christmas.  We spent our morning doing crafts, petting the nativity animals, decorating cupcakes, singing "Happy Birthday to Jesus" and of course, eating them.  Such a great way to start off our day.

Advent Day 1

Christmas Party at Dad's Office/Candy Canes from Firefighters

Tonight kicked off another year of Advent activities.  The next twenty-four days are by far some of my favorite days of the year.  The kids came downstairs this morning asking right away to read the story and find out what we were doing.  I think it's the first time they were more excited than I was, which proves it's a family tradition they love.

Day 1 activities involved both new and repetitive activities.  New, we attended Dad's office Christmas party.  He hosted a open house event for all his clients, we went during dinner to eat some yummy food and meet people.  The kids were fabulous and enjoyed their time.  Repetitive activity, every year our local firefighters decorate their firetruck with Christmas lights and drive around town blowing their horn, flashing their lights and handing out candy canes to the kiddos.  We have done it in the past but I always forget to take pictures.  I did remember the camera tonight but due to lightning, the kids excitement, and the quickness of the activity the pictures turned out poor.  Hopefully next year's pictures will be as successful as the activity always is.

Celebrated Thanksgiving in Iowa

We had the opportunity to travel south to Grandpa and Grandma's to celebrate Thanksgiving this year.  We are so glad we did because we had such a great time.  The weather was BEAUTIFUL so we took advantage of being outside for a little each day.  While down there we spent our time playing lots of games, built with Dad's old Legos, ate yummy food, hit up some Black Friday deals, went to some parks, drove through the town's holiday lights display, and did some street fishing since the pond was not an option.

Special thanks to Grandpa and Grandma for making us feel so special and for all the wonderful hospitality.  Love you both lots.
