Rainbow Bright

One of Elyse's favorite things she did at her birthday party was coloring her hair with hair chalk.  

When I took Ian up for his nap today (5 minutes or so), I came down to three giggling kids as Elyse was coloring Caleb's hair after successfully already having Kallen's done.  She then proceeded to beautifully do her own.  They turned out pretty good, but I am so thankful it comes out with one shampoo wash.

Kallen's First Day of Preschool

Today Kallen had his turn attending his first day of school.  He has class every Friday from 9:00-11:30.  He started his morning off not too excited to go by himself.  However, once we arrived and we all watched him hang up his backpack on his hook, find his mailbox and say good morning to his teachers just like he has watched Elyse and Caleb do for the past three years, he was all smiles and went in great.  Such a proud, silly, happy and big boy.

Caleb's First Day of (Extended Day) Preschool

Today Caleb had his turn attending his first day of school.  Even though he will be going to the same preschool this year with many of the same classmates, it's still exciting and new; because he has new teachers, in a new classroom, and will have lunch and recess this year.  He's growing up way too fast!

Elyse's First Day of 1st Grade

Not only did Elyse get to celebrate turning seven today, she got to celebrate her first day of being a first grader. This year was not anywhere near as emotional as last year, but still was bittersweet watching her get on the bus for another year of school.

Happy Birthday, Elyse

Every year on this day, September 8th, I sit down to share the news that our first born turns another year older.  It never gets easier, but still there's a lot of joy seeing her become the lady God created her to be; a gorgeous, intelligent, strong-willed, leader, loud and passionate child.

Minnesota State Fair

Today, dad (Nate), the kids and I attended the last day of "The Great Minnesota Get Together".  The kids were thrilled when we asked if they wanted to go.  We were out the door bright and early, and hit most events before the crowds got crazy.  We ate our share of french fries, mini donuts, cheese curds, cookies and other yummy food.  We hit a ton of the kids expos and activities, and made it home before exhaustion and melts downs could even occur.  So pleased at how our morning at the fair went; and who knows, maybe we will adventure out again next year?!?

Elyse's Birthday Celebration

Today we celebrated Elyse's 7th birthday a few days early with the party that she has been beyond excited for.  The girl loves makeup and anything fancy; so when we suggested a "Makeup Birthday Party" she was nothing but bright eyes and smiles.  The party consisted of her three closes friends making their own lip gloss, coloring their hair, painting nails and putting on makeup, as well as opening presents and eating cupcakes.  It was a lot of fun to see the before and afters, and the joy on our little princess' face who sadly isn't so little anymore.
